Are you finding that your pension is not what it should be, that is it is not making ends meet? Or perhaps you are just looking for some extra spending money for a trip or along those lines. There are of course many ways in which you can supplement your pension, but if you, like me, are not that into manual labor, blogging can be a great, easy and fun way to add some extra cash to your wallet.
I will not get into how one gets the blog up and running, there are already thousands of great articles on this subject already. Most blog sites like wordpress.com and blospot.com also have in depth guides to help you get started. Blogs today are very simple to use and are designed in way that everyone should be able to understand and use them so you shouldn’t have any problems.
Now you are perhaps wondering what to write about? Think about it, if you are retired and on your pension, you have a whole life behind you. You literally have hundreds of things to choose from: the different employments you have held, vacations you have been on, your pets, your grandchildren or anything else that you can imagine yourself writing about. Maybe you just write about your day-to-day life in retirement and living off your pension? Be sure to choose a topic that is close to your heart and of interest to you, otherwise you might find it hard to keep up the blogging.
There are three basic rules when it comes to supplementing your pension with blogging, the key is sticking to them: keeping the posts coming in a regular fashion, the use of rel=”tag” and the pinging of different blog indexing services.
You do not have to post every day, but at least twice a week would be a good interval to try and stick to. On the other end you cannot post too often. You do not want to put too much pressure on yourself in the beginning as it may take a while before you will see that extended pension money. I do not want to get more technical than I have to here, but in search engine optimization terms it is a good thing to let Google, Yahoo, MSN and the blog indexing services now that you blog is active and updated regularly. Regular updates are especially important in the beginning of your blog’s life as it creates many inbound links which will be should be spread out in many categories. Read on and you will hopefully understand.
When the whole blog scene exploded a couple of years ago, and the number of blogs climbed into the millions, people came up with the idea to index, categorize and make blogs searchable to better help people reading blogs find what they are looking for. Bloggers could also find people writing about the same subjects and exchange ideas and so forth. They way this works is that you have to tell these blog-indexing services know what categories you are writing about and when you are writing it.
In my follow-up article on this subject I will proceed on telling you more in detail about how to work the blog indexing services and how to start increasing your pension.
